On August 3, 2024, Nav Srishti completed three decades, and it is an immense pleasure because when we started this journey, we had no idea that so many people would join us and that Nav Srishti would play a significant role in bringing change to people’s lives. Looking back, we began our first journey with ten girls, and today, that journey has successfully become a beacon of hope, bringing transformation to the lives of thousands of women, girls and children.
As we celebrate our anniversary this year, the team has collectively decided that, considering the journey of Nav Srishti so far, we have completed a total of 10,950 days. To mark this milestone, we will plant 10,950 trees in our work areas. Given the alarming environmental situation worldwide, it is essential for us to advance in this direction and also contribute to environmental conservation.
We firmly believe that the work done on protection of women and children is never enough. The data across the country, according to the NCBR 2022 report With 14,247 cases in 2022, Delhi registered the highest rate of crimes against women in the country at 144.4—way above the country’s average rate of 66.4. Delhi, the most unsafe metropolis in crimes involving Juveniles, Juveniles were found to be involved in 2,436 criminal cases reported in Delhi in 2022, compared to 2,618 in 2021 and 2,336 in 2020. The figure is much higher in comparison to the other 19 metropolitan cities in India, according to the NCRB data.
Since Nav Srishti has always worked on protection of women and children, we have decided that we will conduct mass awareness campaigns, stakeholder meetings, and provide assistance to victims in all our work areas. Additionally, we will ensure that the government schemes and policies related to women and child protection are effectively implemented.
