Story Of Change

Ranjita

My name is Ranjita. I am a working woman at Nav Srishti. I was not financially strong, and my family's financial condition was not stable as well. So I decided to do something regarding it. And I came to know about Nav Srishti, which is a nonprofit organisation that empowers women and children. They also provide courses like stitching, beautician, and computer application courses, and run crèche for working mothers' children. So, in the year 2016, I enrolled in a 6-month beautician course. During that I use to keep my child in the Crèche of Nav Srishti. After I completed my course, I started handling door-to-door customers but still wanted to earn a stable income. I got to know about the job vacancy of a beautician teacher from the teacher who taught me at Nav Srishti, and she gave my reference to them. An interview was conducted by them, which I cleared and got the job in 2019. During the first few days of my job, it was difficult for me to understand the ways of teaching my students. Gradually, with a lot of hard work and experience, I started teaching my students. I enjoy imparting knowledge to my students, and I like working here. In the beginning, I was under confidence and could not even speak to others, whereas now I am fully confident and teach 25-30 students. Earlier, I was a housewife, and now I can proudly say that I am a working woman and can support my family financially. Now my husband work side by side and we nurture our daughter with a life we could not afford for single income. I would like to thank Nav Srishti for bringing out a change in me and supporting me.

Poonam

When I first went to Nav Srishti in the year 1999, I was much tensed of what to do and what not. It was Reena Di who holds my hand and enlightened me to work for the welfare of society. While working with Nav Srishti, I have been awarded with “Adarsh Stree Purashkar” in the year 2005 from CII. Walking on the footsteps of Reena Ji, today I made my own organization and in the last 13 years, I could able to link more than 4000 out of school children with the formal education system and help to generate income for more than 3000 women by providing them training on stitching, embroidery and beautician through my organization.

Nitin Kumar Gupta

My name is Nitin Kumar Gupta and I had joined Nav Srishti as a project coordinator in February 2012. I had less experience in the social sector. During my inceptions of the social work sector, I was completing Bachelor in social work. During my project coordinator, I scored my skills and learned that how to explore the possibilities. Since 2012 to June 2014, I had gained knowledge. I spent the most of the time on documentation because I know that in a social work sector, two areas must be strong; first field and second is documentation. June 2014, came with me a new window on destiny. Reena Madam gave me chance to hold the position of Program Manager and also believed in my skills. I was feeling nervous and hesitating but I took the arduous work and accept the challenge. The journey from 2012 to till now is a splendid experience for me. In my journey, many people encouraged me but I would like to mention a name where without her support scarcely this journey couldn’t start.

Yes, Ms. Reena Banerjee, founder of Nav Srishti organization. She always supported me; whenever I faced the crisis or calamities she guided us and stood with us. Nav Srishti gave me plenteous opportunity to show cast my skill as well as provide me learning environment to polish my knowledge and enhance the capacities.

Nav Srishti's staffs always encouraged me and till now they motivate me to give my best shot and also make me as a leader. Right now I supervising an enormous team and implementing a program in Delhi most backward communities. I had completed the master in social work and eager to do Ph.D. I will be indebted towards the Nav Srishti that no one is the luckest person just like me. I will always try to transfer my experience and knowledge what have I gained here from my teammates.

Girls Saved

We convey many thanks to the schoolteacher who is very sensitive on the issue of child safety. Due to his sensitivity we could protect three children from the hand of rapist father. We received a phone call from Women Help-Line that some girls have been sexually assaulted by their father in outer Delhi. Our counsellors reached school and met the teacher. A girl was also present there. Teacher told that this girl came to me and asked for her T. C. of 10th standard. The teacher told when she asked the girl why she was leaving school, she said that she would not study further and do some job as she needed to look after her two younger sisters. I suspected that something was wrong there. When lady teacher talked to the girl she stated that her mother had expired in a road accident and father tried to rape her but not succeeded and now he targets my younger sister. He repeatedly tries to force her. As the matter was quite serious, our counsellor called police and reached the girl’s house. Her younger sister was in trauma and very scared. She was given assurance that we came for her support. After counselling for a while she became normal. Their father ran away from the spot before we reached. FIR lodged against him and we kept all three girls at shelter home.

Sunita Rajput

“I had joined to Nav Srishti as a parlour teacher. After a year, I also started working as a community mobiliser, as I wanted to make them aware of the opportunities, we have here at Nav Srishti. I had completed my post-graduation when I started working at Nav Srishti and was doing a one-year computer accountancy course from F-tech (Khanpur branch). One day Reena Ma’am asked me if I could take over the accountancy role as the previous accountant had left suddenly and it would take some time to find a new one who they can depend on. I was not too confident, but Reena Ma’am had faith in my abilities. For the next fifteen days I learnt all the accountancy work, and then I had to take over the role.

I faced some difficulties initially, as it was new and challenging for me, but Reena Ma’am was very patient and encouraging. Now, I have completed my 10 years at accountancy role and I’m very confident about my skills and abilities. This was all possible because of Nav Srishti, thanks to Nav Srishti and their believe in empowering women to make the best opportunities of their life and achieve all their goals.”
