Environmental Sustainability, Climate Action & Social Resilience
Our Programme
Environmental Sustainability, Climate Action & Social Resilience
Nav Srishti integrates environmental sustainability with social protection and livelihood resilience, recognising that climate and pollution impacts disproportionately affect low-income and informal communities. Our approach combines behavioural change, community-level mitigation, and governance engagement to address environmental risks in urban contexts such as Delhi.
To reduce plastic pollution, Nav Srishti promotes the adoption of reusable cloth bags through community outreach and behaviour-change initiatives, supporting the transition away from single-use plastics. These efforts contribute to waste reduction and complement broader municipal solid waste management goals.
Nav Srishti also works with informal and vulnerable workers impacted by pollution-related disruptions, including loss of income during high-pollution periods. We support affected households by facilitating access to social protection schemes, labour registrations, and alternative livelihood pathways, thereby strengthening socio-economic resilience to environmental shocks.
Internally, Nav Srishti promotes low-carbon mobility practices, encouraging the use of public transport among staff and project participants to reduce vehicular emissions. Externally, we engage communities to adopt similar practices through awareness and facilitation.
In parallel, Nav Srishti is engaging with relevant authorities and stakeholders in Delhi to explore technology-enabled approaches for pollution monitoring, planning, and governance support. These efforts align with broader climate mitigation, public health, and urban sustainability priorities and are designed to complement ongoing government interventions.
Nav Srishti’s environmental work is grounded in the understanding that climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation are social justice issues that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. Our Climate & ESG approach integrates environmental responsibility with livelihood protection, governance engagement, and community resilience.
Health Interventions
Nav Srishti works to improve access to preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and health awareness among vulnerable and high-risk populations who often remain outside the formal health system. Our health interventions focus on outreach-based service delivery, awareness generation, and linkage to public health services, while supporting national and global public health priorities.
Health Services for Transport Workers
Recognizing the heightened health vulnerabilities faced by long-distance transport workers, Nav Srishti has supported truck drivers through targeted health initiatives, including:
HIV/AIDS testing and awareness programmes
Counselling on preventive health practices
Facilitation of access to government health services where required
These interventions promote early detection, reduce stigma, and encourage timely health-seeking behaviour among a highly mobile and underserved population.
Community Health Check-up Camps
Nav Srishti regularly organizes community-level health check-up camps to support early diagnosis and preventive care. These camps provide general health screenings, basic diagnostics, and referrals to public hospitals for further treatment when required.
Eye Health Initiatives
In Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Nav Srishti organized a large-scale eye check-up camp, benefiting 2,172 individuals through vision screening, early identification of eye conditions, and referral support.
Promoting Responsible Antibiotic Use & AMR Awareness
As part of its health programming, Nav Srishti actively promotes awareness on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). We conduct community-level awareness sessions emphasizing the responsible use of antibiotics strictly on the prescription of qualified medical practitioners. In parallel, Nav Srishti engages with doctors and pharmacists, sensitizing them on rational antibiotic prescribing and dispensing practices. These efforts contribute to reducing misuse of antibiotics, strengthening public awareness, and supporting national and global AMR containment efforts.
Through these integrated health initiatives, Nav Srishti complements public health systems by delivering last-mile health access, strengthening preventive care, and promoting responsible health practices among vulnerable communities.
