Since the year 2000, Nav Srishti has been running a Cutting and Tailoring Centre dedicated to empowering women through skill development. Over the past 25 years, more than 1,500 women and girls have successfully completed this six-month training program, with 70% now earning an income through their tailoring skills.
Most of the participants are either literate or have studied up to Class 10. Despite limited formal education, they are highly motivated to learn tailoring and enhance their skills to achieve financial independence and a better quality of life. After completing the course, many women choose to work from home, join local tailoring or boutique shops, or secure jobs in garment factories.
Earnings vary based on skill and experience, starting from a minimum of ₹3,000 per month and going up to ₹15,000–₹20,000 per month for more experienced and skilled women.
The course curriculum and training framework were originally provided by Singer India, which also supported the initiative for nearly 20 years by offering sewing machines at half price to trainees. Later, Spiritual Nectar of Wisdom (SNOW) India and individual donors extended their support by donating sewing machines to the most needy women.
Currently, the program is being implemented with the support of SNOW India under its Sahkar Setu Program, ensuring continued impact and empowerment for women from underprivileged backgrounds.
